Pembroke Petawawa District Community Foundation

Giving That Grows.

The Pembroke, Petawawa & District Community Foundation was established in 2009. We exist to inspire philanthropy. We are one of more than 150 Community Foundations in Canada.

Our mandate is to hold and grow charitable funds for people, businesses, churches and other organizations. As the funds grow, the proceeds are distributed to meet the community’s greatest needs.

A Community Foundation works to sustain the charitable and non-profit organizations in the area, by providing a mechanism through which to grow funds to return to charitable works and community projects. We help to create great communities through building  a permanent source of funds, connecting donors with community needs and by providing leadership on key community issues.

A donation to a Community Foundation is invested as a permanent endowment fund to generate income, in perpetuity, for charitable causes. The funds are invested so as to generate annual income which is distributed to charities based on the greatest needs within the community. The original capital is never spent, only the annual income. The funds are managed responsibly by a group of community leaders who are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in the region.

The Community Foundation assists individuals and corporations in planning for philanthropic giving. Present gifts (those occurring during an individual’s lifetime) can assist the Foundation immediately and help the donor through tax credits and reduced inclusion rates on capital gains. Deferred gifts (those occurring upon the death of a donor) will ultimately help the Foundation and benefit the donor’s estate.

The idea of giving something back to the community is often a considerable aspect of estate planning, though knowing which organization could most benefit from planned giving can sometimes be difficult to determine. The Community Foundation assist donors in meeting the request of giving back to the community by directing funds to the areas in greatest need, while helping to contribute to the sustainability of our charitable resources.

Philanthropy lives in all of us. We hope you will be encouraged to Invest for Impact with the Pembroke, Petawawa & District Community Foundation.
