Did it out of necessity but would never go back to working for someone else. Love being able to make the decisions that my other bosses never made and see the outcomes that they missed.

I did become an entrepreneur by choice and for a few reasons: I enjoy the freedom of decision-making, the flexibility of working when I want to, and the creative space that independent work allows (which is often crushed by supervisors). Although I chose to be a sole proprietor after 7 years at home with my children, it would have been easier financially to return to an employee status. But, I had just too much inside that I needed to explore - any typical boss or job would have restricted my potential.

I left a unionized position to launch my own business, and I am grateful everyday for having done so. I was amazed how much more alive I feel being in charge of my own destiny, and not having to live by someone else's rules - employers and union management. I don't make as much money, and I don't care. I have a lot less stressful life. I know a lot of people are not happy with union environments and I think once they get the courage to make the break, you'll see plenty more entrepreneurs.
